A Compton schoolteacher was sentenced in Spokane, Wash., to more than 23 years in prison for the shotgun slaying of his former wife last Christmas. Raymond Valentine Brytan, 46, a fifth-grade teacher, pleaded guilty to murdering Vera Perry when he went to visit his two sons who were living with her.
