Dennis Conner’s Sail America foundation is unhappy...

Dennis Conner’s Sail America foundation is unhappy with the seven-member committee named by the San Diego Yacht Club to select the site for the next America’s Cup races, the San Diego Union reported.

The newspaper quoted an unnamed source as saying that the syndicate has asked for major changes on the panel. All seven committee members named last week, including six members of the San Diego Yacht Club, are from San Diego.

Sail America reportedly is concerned that a panel of local yachtsmen will be swayed by hometown emotions in selecting the site of the 1990-91 event. Cities that have expressed interest in playing host to the races include San Diego, Honolulu, San Francisco and Newport, R.I.
