A federal circuit court upheld the perjury conviction of U.S. District Judge Walter Nixon Jr. of Mississippi, saying his appeal claims did not merit discussion. Nixon was convicted in February, 1986, on two counts of perjury arising from his testimony during a grand jury investigation of a drug smuggling case. “Appellant’s unspecified and unsubstantiated claims of evidentiary error do not merit discussion,” said the three-judge panel of the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.
