Former major league catcher Luke Sewell, 86, who played for the Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators and Chicago White Sox during the 1920s and ‘30s, died after a five-month illness. Sewell managed the St. Louis Browns from 1941 to ’46 and the Cincinnati Reds from 1950 to ’52.
