Hughes Communications will use a Titan III rocket.

Los Angeles-based Hughes said the Titan III, built by Martin Marietta Corp., will carry its second satellite into orbit for Japan Communications Satellite Co. The launch will be from Cape Canaveral, Fla., in summer 1989. Previously, Hughes said it had arranged to orbit its first Japanese satellite in late 1988 or early 1989, using a vehicle built by the European rocket consortium Arianspace.
