San Diego All-Star Basketball : Flores Scores 17 to Pace 3-A Victory

Mike Flores of Mount Miguel High School scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the San Diego Section’s 3-A boys’ basketball all-star team to a 101-80 victory over the 2-A all-stars Saturday night at Grossmont College.
Leading at the end of the first quarter, 26-21, the 3-A team outscored the 2-A squad, 27-11, in the second quarter to take a 21-point halftime lead.
Morse’s Willie Russell (14 points) and Sweetwater’s Mahlon Williams (12) were the only other players among the 16 scorers for the 3-A team to hit double figures. Charlie Applegate of St. Augustine led the 2-A team with 16 points. El Camino’s Edmond Johnson added 12 points for the 2-A all-stars.
In the girls’ game, Point Loma’s Terri Mann ended her high school career by scoring 22 points and getting 19 rebounds to pace the city leagues’ all-stars to a 73-59 victory over a team comprising players from the rest of the county. Crawford’s Karla Salmi added 12 points for the city team. Mount Miguel’s Marla Swanson led the county team with 12 points.
