Two-thirds of Americans believe the nation’s manufacturers have responded to imports by becoming more competitive, and a majority continues to support restrictions on imports to protect jobs at home, according to a Media General-Associated Press poll. And 52% of the 1,304 adult Americans in the nationwide telephone poll believe the Japanese work harder than Americans, while 35% disagreed. However, 52% disagreed that Japanese products in general were better than American products.
