American life expectancy has reached a record 75 years, according to insurance company figures. The gain came after two years in which average life expectancy had remained steady at 74.7 years. Preliminary calculations showed that a girl born in 1986 figured to live to age 78 1/2 and a boy to 71 1/2, Metropolitan Life said. Women who reached age 65 last year had an average of 18.9 more years to live and men 14.7 years.
