As a summer movie usher in Westwood, I was angered by Laura Adler’s letter complaining about Universal’s new cinema complex (Calendar Letters, July 12).

Most lower-level theater employees (ushers, doormen, cashiers, etc.) are paid minimum wage to scrape garbage off theater floors and answer idiotic questions from patrons. (Example: lady standing right in front of the popcorn machine asks, “Do you sell popcorn?”)

So when Adler is inconvenienced by a lousy parking situation and other management -caused problems at the new Universal City Cineplex, does she ask to see a manager? No, she’d rather express her dissatisfaction by “throttling the nearest smiling Cineplex employee.”

Great solution, Laura--aim your anger at a blameless “smiling” employee, while those who caused the problems sit undisturbed in their plush offices counting their profits.
