McDonnell Douglas’ earnings rose 19.6% to $97.1 million in the second quarter. The St. Louis-based firm said profit dropped 1.5% in the first half of the year. The quarterly gain was credited to a change in pension plan accounting and higher sales in all product lines, especially transport aircraft.
