Callaghan Honored

LONDON — Former British Labor Prime Minister James Callaghan was named a life peer Thursday in an honors list drawn up by Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Callaghan, 75, who was defeated by Thatcher in 1979 in the first of her three election victories, was among 19 politicians from all parties elevated to the House of Lords.
