LONDON — Hundreds of well-wishers showered Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, with flowers, cards and gifts on her 87th birthday today. Appearing on the balcony of Clarence House to acknowledge the cheers from the crowd in the street below, she waved and smiled broadly.
