If Madonna left a misimpression with “Today” viewers regarding the bouquet of her hometown, Bay City, Mich., she’s sorry. It’s not a “little smelly town,” as she told Jane Pauley on Friday. She corrected the impression in the Wolverine State Sunday before a Pontiac Silverdome concert audience: “I do not think it’s a stinky city. I said it smells bad. I didn’t say that about the people; I said it about the Dow Chemical plant. It was near my grandma’s house. I don’t mean to cause a commotion because that’s where I was from. I think I’ll shut up now.”
