Officials of nine Japanese commercial banks will meet next week to discuss how to respond to BankAmerica Corp.’s request that they participate in the company’s plan to raise badly needed cash. The nine coordinating banks have agreed in principle to help San Francisco-based BankAmerica rebuild its weakened capital base.
