Jonesboro, Ga., residents will vote in October whether to increase their sales tax by 1% to pay for a $23-million “Gone With the Wind” tourist attraction in the metropolitan Atlanta County of Clayton. County commissioners approved the October special election Tuesday on the issue of raising the sales tax from 3% to 4%. The complex would be located on a 25-acre site southwest of Jonesboro donated by descendants of “GWTW” author Margaret Mitchell.
