A & W Brands Inc. plans to...

A & W Brands Inc. plans to acquire Vernors Inc., a soft drink marketer, for more than $10 million in stock and cash. A & W said it had signed a letter of intent to purchase the Southfield, Mich.-based Vernors, a wholly owned subsidiary of United Brands, which has headquarters in New York.
