Cedar Rapids, Iowa, officials are learning the price of having a movie shot in their city. The crew working on “Farm of the Year,” starring Richard Gere, has racked up 48 parking tickets and wants the city to forget about them. Public Safety Commissioner Floyd Bergen replied, “We want to support the movie and the money the people are bringing into the community, but it’s very difficult to make this kind of decision. Excusing these tickets could set a precedent.” Gere and company should consider themselves lucky, because a Cedar Rapids parking fine is $2 if paid within three days, then increases to $5.
