Park Land Uses

Sam Hall Kaplan’s column on the West Hollywood Civic Design competition (Aug. 16) mentioned only in passing that the site is a park.

You have been a supporter of urban open spaces in the past, so I am surprised you didn’t dwell on the fact that the City of West Hollywood seems to view park land as merely a building-to-be.

Unfortunately, this attitude is pervasive, witness the Autry Museum in Griffith Park and the massive development planned in Bonelli Park. How sad.
