Comprehensive Care Reports Earnings Drop

Comprehensive Care Corp.’s earnings dropped 48% in the first quarter of its fiscal 1988, to $2.5 million from $4.8 million a year earlier. For the first quarter ended Aug. 31, revenues were $50.3 million, compared to $50.6 million in fiscal 1987.

B. Lee Karns, chairman and chief executive officer of the Irvine-based operator of alcohol, chemical dependency and psychiatric disorder treatment centers, said the earnings decrease was expected because last year’s first quarter was exceptionally strong.
