As an American for four generations and a Catholic I must take exemption with the bishops who designated the aid to the Irish Republican Army a “sin.”
If it is a “sin” to maintain, monetarily or otherwise, a segment fighting against tyranny then it must also be a “sin” to back the Contras, the freedom fighters of South Africa and the Afghan rebels among a host of others.
I am ashamed of my church.
