Sony will increase U.S. retail prices on TV sets and other electronics products 5% to 6%, effective Jan. 4. “Economic events in recent months have created an absolute necessity for price rises to supplement those normally built into model changeovers in order to maintain an acceptable and realistic level of profitability,” said Neil Vander Dussen, president and chief operating officer of Sony Corp. of America.
