Big Cruise Ship Christened

MIAMI — Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter christened the world’s largest cruise ship Friday, sending a mammoth bottle of champagne crashing against the side of the vessel. The Sovereign of the Seas, a $186-million vessel built for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, was to set sail today for St. Thomas and San Juan, Puerto Rico, with the Carter family aboard.
