Cruickshank Advances in Katin Surfing

Defending champion Mike Cruickshank advanced to the second round of the Katin Memorial Team Challenge surfing competition in Huntington Beach.
Cruickshank, of Dana Point, placed first in his heat during the first day of competition. The event will run through Sunday.
Huntington Beach Surfing Sports took the team lead with 42 points.
