The Hartford Group agreed to pay $70,000 and change certain underwriting procedures in order to settle complaints against seven Hartford insurance subsidiaries lodged last October by the California Department of Insurance. The department charged that the units failed to maintain adequate records to support rate modifications in their commercial policies and to demonstrate that all eligible customers were given consideration under terms of the Individual Risk Modification Plan.
