A man believed to be an undocumented immigrant lost both of his legs early Sunday when he slipped beneath a freight train that he had apparently attempted to jump aboard, police said.
Jose Martinez, 36, apparently fell while attempting to jump aboard the northbound train as it passed through downtown about 3 a.m., police said. Martinez was listed in serious condition late Sunday night at the UC San Diego Medical Center.
