F. W. Woolworth Co. said fourth-quarter income of $131 million was up 11.9% from the year before. For the year, income rose 17.2% to $251 million. The discount retailer, which has lately launched a fierce expansion away from its five-and-dime roots, also operates more than 1,500 Kinney shoe stores and almost 1,000 Lady Foot Locker shops.
