Fired Worker Explains Absence, Is Reinstated

Associated Press

An ambulance worker fired with more than 40 co-workers who called in sick in a pay protest has been reinstated because she was in a hospital recovering from surgery for an on-the-job injury, a mayoral spokesman said.

Donna Carillo was fired by telephone Saturday morning but her dismissal was rescinded hours later. The workers are demanding pay parity with police officers and firefighters.
