Local News in Brief : Newport Beach : Bork to Be Speaker at Campaign Fund-Raiser

Former U.S. Court of Appeals Justice Robert H. Bork will speak Wednesday at a fund-raiser for Newport Beach lawyer C. Christopher Cox, a candidate for the 40th Congressional District seat being vacated by Rep. Robert E. Badham (R-Newport Beach). Bork was nominated for the U.S. Supreme Court by President Reagan but failed to receive Senate confirmation.
The $250-per-person reception will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Pacific Club, 4110 MacArthur Blvd. Information and reservations may be made by calling California Connections, (818) 704-8525.
Cox, 35, is among nearly a dozen candidates expected to run in the heavily Republican district.
