After weeks of negotiations and fielding offers from various parties, offbeat Quebec circus Le Cirque du Soleil has sold film rights to Columbia Pictures.

No word on how the drama and art of the Canadian aerialists, clowns, jugglers and cyclists (no animals here) will be translated to the screen. But a Columbia rep told us, “The movie will not be presented as a concert picture.”
