New World Entertainment said it is dismissing 70 employees, or about 15% of its nonpublishing work force, in a cutback that will affect all operating divisions except Marvel Publishing. The reduction--which leaves about 400 employees--is a response to projected losses for the fourth quarter and entire 1987 fiscal year “and to the company’s desire to improve profitability by lowering the company’s operating costs,” New World Chief Executive Robert Rehme said in a prepared statement. The Los Angeles-based firm said it does not anticipate further cutbacks.
