Woody Allen, Francis Coppola and Martin Scorsese are joining forces--and their distinct cinematic styles--for “New York Stories,” the working title for a feature film composed of three segments--one from each director. Allen will star in his own screenplay, which begins filming Monday. The three plots were described as “contemporary” and “all set in New York.” The segments will be unrelated to each other and there will be no attempt to make the directors’ work look stylistically similar, a spokesman for the production said. The film is set to be released by Walt Disney’s distribution arm, Buena Vista, late this year or in early 1989.
