Grammy Award-winning singer Lou Rawls was honored Monday by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for his efforts in raising $100 million for the United Negro College Fund. Rawls, 51, has raised millions for the fund in the eight years he has hosted the “Lou Rawls Parade of Stars” telethon. In six hours last year, he collected $10.6 million. In accepting the award from Supervisor Kenneth Hahn, Rawls said he found it gratifying to see how young people had been helped by college scholarships provided by the fund.
