Bulls’ Jordan a $28-Million Man

CHICAGO — Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls have reached an agreement on a new contract that could pay him $28 million over eight years, making him the highest paid athlete in team sports, according to a published report today.

The contract, which includes performance incentives, is expected to be signed next week, the Chicago Tribune said. With an average yearly income of $3.5 million over the life of the contract, Jordan would surpass New York Knicks center Patrick Ewing as highest paid player in professional sports. Ewing signed a 10-year, $30-million pact after being the first player chosen in the 1985 National Basketball Assn. draft.
