United Technologies Corp.’s profit increased 24% to $122.2 million in its first quarter, compared to $98.2 million for the year-ago period. The Hartford, Conn., diversified manufacturing firm said the strong earnings at its Otis elevators and UT Automotive units as contributed significantly to the gain.
