Reviews of AFI Festival Movies

Following are reviews for the American Film Institute Film Festival. All screenings are at the Cineplex Odeon Century Plaza Cinemas unless otherwise indicated.

‘Brightness’

Mali, 1986, 105 minutes , 7:45 p.m . One of those films that become legendary among those fortunate enough to have seen it. In the spare story, set in Mali where magic is a given, a son approaching manhood must wrest the magical powers of birthright from his father. Ravishingly beautiful, it is also touching and dryly humorous; one of the great experiences of world cinema. RECOMMENDED.
