Olin Corp., Stamford, Conn., said it has tentatively agreed to acquire General Defense Corp., a leading manufacturer of heavy ammunition and tactical systems, from Clabir Corp. in a deal valued at $104 million. The transaction is contingent upon government approval and General Defense’s receipt of a fiscal 1988 production award under its contract with the Army for tank ammunition. General Defense, based in York, Pa., had sales of $159 million last year. Clabir is based in Greenwich, Conn.
