The Rev. Al Sharpton, a controversial New York civil rights leader who walked out of a Criminal Court hearing in protest May 5, was arrested in a Queens courtroom on a bench warrant. Sharpton was taken into custody after a hearing regarding a “Day of Outrage” protest at LaGuardia Airport on Jan. 27. Sharpton was handed over to Brooklyn court officers on a warrant issued last week when he and other black activists walked out of a hearing over their arrests in the first “Day of Outrage” Dec. 21.
