Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Allen Garfield and Rebecca De Mornay will play lead roles in the Pasadena Playhouse revival of Garson Kanin’s 1946 classic “Born Yesterday,” the theater announced Tuesday. The production, opening June 26, will feature Garfield and De Mornay re-creating roles made famous by Broderick Crawford and Judy Holliday in the 1951 film version. Playwright Kanin reportedly will attend the show’s opening night, according to the theater. And in a nice bit of irony, Garfield was De Mornay’s acting teacher eight years ago at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York.
