J.M. Peters Co., a Newport Beach home builder, reported earnings of $7.3 million for its first quarter ending May 31, up from $2.2 million during the first quarter of last year. Revenues rose to $87 million from $51 million last year. Peters attributed the increases to the strength of the Southern California housing market and the company’s share of the market for more expensive homes.
