Not a Panda Fan

My growing annoyance about pandas reached a peak when I saw how much space you allotted to those dopey beasts (editorial, “Too Much Love,” June 14). Look, they don’t want to procreate. They only eat a particular species of bamboo that itself is endangered; furthermore, I understand they’re really not very nice.

Support butterflies instead. Remember how many there were when you were kids. They’re pretty, they don’t take up much space and they’re free. The best part of your editorial was the information that the Chinese are charging $500,000 to rent one--for only six months!

Think about it.
