Tesla the Serb

I read with interest Janice Arkatov’s article about Donald Krieger’s new play “The Tesla Project” (“ ‘Tesla Project’ Juices Up a Director,” June 18), but I would like to clarify the mistaken impression that the “Croatian-born” Nikola Tesla was Croatian. In fact, Tesla was a Serb and was the son a Serbian Orthodox priest.

The Croatian people can justifiably boast a number of persons of high intellectual and artistic achievement, but Tesla is not one of them.
