Pilot of Crashed Copter Was Drunk, Bonn Says

BONN — One of two pilots of a West German army helicopter that crashed in the Alps, killing all nine people aboard, was drunk at the time, the Defense Ministry said.
Five civilians, the three-man crew and another West German soldier were killed when the Bell helicopter smashed into a cliff in the Bavarian Alps on Sunday.
The ministry said Friday that one of the two dead pilots was found to have had a blood alcohol content of 0.25%. It did not say which pilot was operating the aircraft at the time of the crash.
In the United States, a blood alcohol content of about 0.1% is considered drunk.
