Conrad rightly puts the mantle of Lenin on Gorbachev (June 29). Like Lenin, Gorbachev is brilliant and flexible, a leader with faith in the people (Lenin said that every cook should learn to govern). How lucky we’d be if we could have a President who’s more of a giant than a pygmy.
