Is there a liberal bias to broadcast news? Not a very big one, according to a study done by the Washington-based Center for Media and Public Affairs. The study, evaluating more than 1,300 primary election stories aired by ABC, CBS and NBC through June 7, found that Democrats collectively received “good press” 56% of the time while Republicans got 54% favorable press. When network correspondents became involved, the percentages changed slightly: 64% “positive evaluations” for Democrats, 52% for Republicans. The individual with best press? Jesse Jackson, with 74% good press. The worst? Gary Hart, with only 38% positive.
