Dow Chemical Co.’s profit doubled in the second quarter, propelled by strong performances in its basic chemicals and plastics segments. The Midland, Mich.-based firm posted record net income of $624 million, up from $312 million a year ago. Revenue climbed 25% to $4.25 billion.
