A transient died after a train hit him Friday morning about a mile north of Leucadia Boulevard, Deputy Coroner Chuck Bolton said.
Gene Allan Gray, 33, died of massive internal injuries about 5:10 a.m. in an ambulance near the scene. He had been lying on the track and apparently tried to get out of the way of the train, Bolton said.
