George W. Aucott Named President of Firestone Tire

The Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., Chicago, has named George W. Aucott president and chief operating officer. Aucott will be responsible for Firestone’s North American and international tire businesses and for Firestone’s diversified products activities. Aucott will continue to be based at Firestone’s tire headquarters in Akron, Ohio. John J. Nevin, Firestone’s chairman and chief executive, had temporarily assumed the title of president when Albert E. Suter resigned. Aucott, 53, previously was president of Firestone tire operations.
