Winner Uses Fan’s Head to Save Par

LINDBRICK, England — Australian Corinne Dibnah, who hit a spectator in the head with a wild drive on the first playoff hole, sank a 6-foot birdie putt on the second to beat Sally Little for the title in the $180,000 British Women’s Open Sunday.

Dibnah’s wild shot on first playoff hole, which broke the spectator’s nose, rebounded from the man’s head onto the fairway. She and Little both parred the hole.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have won but I can’t tell you how much that incident shook me up,” said Dibnah, who turned 26 Friday. “I was in a bit of a state afterwards.”
