BRIEFLY . . .

Larry Himmel’s new show, “The Himmel Show,” will debut on KCST-TV (Channel 39) at 9 p.m. Sept. 30. From descriptions provided by the station, the new show sounds remarkably similar to Himmel’s ill-fated KFMB-TV (Channel 8) daily program, “Himmel at Large.” “The Himmel Show” will feature local comedy and music acts, including “audience telephone and contest segments, plus riveting features like a bus tour of Rufus & Martha’s Bar-B-Q in Southeast San Diego and an in-depth examination of the ‘Garbage of the Stars.’ ” The first show will be broadcast live from Belmont’s at the Beach, a Mission Beach nightclub.
