6 Indicted in Commando Training

MIAMI — Six Cuban-born Americans were charged in federal indictments unsealed here today with violating the U.S. Neutrality Act by training and equipping commandos at a Florida base camp for operations against Nicaragua’s Sandinista troops.
According to the six-count indictment, the six operated a training camp on the outskirts of the Everglades near Naples on Florida’s west coast from June, 1983, until September, 1986, turning out about 60 graduates in commando-style warfare. The commandoes, mostly Cubans and Nicaraguans, were flown to Costa Rica to join forces with former rebel leader Eden Pastora’s men.
